Khadi Fat Quarters- Iron black print
$37.00
Khadi Fat Quarters
These are printed with the ancient tradition of Iron black printing.
Cloth is boiled in a copper pot in Myrobalin root, then aged 3 weeks. Meanwhile iron horseshoes are fermented with jaggery/sugar cake for 3 weeks until you get a head of foam, the iron water is strained off and thickened with gum arabic.
The iron water is a pale muddy green colour, as it is blockrpinted onto the aged cloth it quickly oxidizes into a strong permanent black print. like magic.
The background colour is a warm cream shade with an inky black print.
Fat Quarters- the classic quilters and crafters go to.
USES- great for quilt making, patching clothes, using in slow stitch/boro projects. The hand of khadi is so easy to stitch into; choose a project with lots of relaxed stitching for full enjoyment.
Bundle contains 4 Fat Quarters- each piece is 50 cm wide by 45 to 55 cm long
The size depends on the loom of those who wove the cloth for us- some produce 90 cm wide cloth, some 110 cm wide cloth.
